Robert J. Thomas
first moved to the City of Westland, MI when he was six years old. In September of 1970, he began working as a municipal employee at the Department of Public Service performing such tasks as sweeping streets, plowing snow, grading gravel roads, repairing water mains, etc. When Robert decided to run for Mayor, he had no political experience or background. He had no money or support, and he was facing one of the strongest political machines in the City's history. Most people thought of him as just a "city worker" and, therefore, had no real chance of winning. Robert thought otherwise.

He painstakingly and methodically put together a campaign strategy and surprised everyone by winning the Mayor's seat in 1989 by a mere 200 votes. He continued to convert doubters to believers with his 1993 reelection campaign winning by the largest vote margin in the City's history. In his third campaign for Mayor in 1997, he continued to amaze people with his campaign strategy by winning by another landslide and setting more records. He has successfully ran and won three Mayoral campaigns and has never lost an election.

In this book, Robert will explain step-by-step how to put together a winning campaign strategy for any local office.
